Who are the Southern Illinois Roller Girls?

Founded in June 2009, the Southern Illinois Roller Girls (SIRG) is the first all-female flat-track roller derby league in Southern Illinois. In the Do-It-Yourself spirit of modern Roller Derby SIRG is comprised of local women from various backgrounds, working together to build our team from the ground up. Our mission is to actively provide and sustain an environment in which courage and respect is developed and fostered in tandem with athletic ability and physical strength, through the spirit of good sportswoman ship. SIRG aims to empower women by challenging team members’ personal growth both on and off the track.

As we work towards becoming a non-profit organization, our aim for the league is to foster community outreach by supporting local charities through fundraising and volunteer services. Our continuing goal is to establish and maintain roots within the Southern Illinois community. After covering the costs of renting practice facilities, league insurance, and other essential fees, a portion of the funds raised will be donated to the non-profit charity of our choice.
